EssieMarie, I managed to find the California preceptor list I posted about. It's from 2017. Do you still want it. I can create a G-drive link. I don't want to post the entire list on the board. It might piss off the Dr offices. Anyways....lmk how to get it to you? I has a bunch near Sac-town.

Oh... and just for clarity...I always use money first as the lowest common denominator bc sometimes its safer for people to keep thier secret vices to them selves....and sometimes I just don't care enough read that person. If its short term thingy... But if money doesnt work. Do a vice analysis. If the next vice doesnt work. They may not like u and move on the next perosn or opp.

"what does this dude want?" is it money, appreciation... if u have eve r watched the movie Seven w/ Pitt and ZFreeman... everone usually has one or more of those vices. just find it and grease the wheels. and ask ask ask 4 help. people love to help...everyone soo desperate for dopamine/seratonin these days just wanna feell good about themselves. the whole world is either narc or co-dep... figure out which and u will enjoy the interaction better bc u will get what u want easier.

If I were you I would text the ffice manager a quick msg. "red or white?" and hand the offoce manager a nice bottle when u bring lunch, off to the side. Thanks her and let her know how grateful you are. Ask her if u can connect with thier previous students and connect with them and get a list of the their previous preceptors in the area. It may take a few weeks to remond her and chase therm down but u have a few months. Just be consciencious and understand she hold the cards to your finishing. Be good to this connection. That way u can leverage your one connection and branch out to finish your 5 sites from this one connections. Whatever it takes be bold and ask. Most people want to helpyou. If they can. Just ask for help.

And u don't waste a tone of money or time with donuts or drivine. U call them ONLY....get ugly early and find out who want the dollars and who has openings for preceptors. It's efficinet. Time is money not just for them FOR YOU! Be selfish

don't sweat it Linda. I am a nurse-ish. Thick skin. And honestly Essiemarie, as nurses, our job description should be being lied to on a regular basis. It isn't the first time and will not be the last. I have... had a list of preceptors from my school in California. I will try to locate it this week and post it here. Sory I mentioned it before but life took over.

But if u cant get over the money...then I guess I would have to re-think the process. Sorry but I accepted it as part of "tuition" and most of the clinics now charge or u end up graduating later and later and later. Can u answer me why your so opposed to paying?

Try this opener for the phone script... this is what I used to do. Hi this is XXX and your office has been approved by my facility for a preceptorship. I need to speak with the Dr to know how much the payment required is? This way u get to the Dr and the secretarty knows it is money related so won't brush u off. Once your in with the Dr. u can change the tone or work whatever angle u bring to the table. Just get er done. Let the Dr know that u represent your university and can direct other students in the area through this medical facility and bring a new stream of income to the office if your experience is 5 stars. Leverage urself and your experience to be a income stream for the office.

And here is a hint. The Dr or NP doesn't really care. They kind of do what the office manager wants. Bc they truly keep the busy work and head-aches out of the providers hair. The Dr cares to a point but really they don't want another headache or liability. SO make it easy for them. I forgot it was a year ago but forgot. There was this office manager typical obese never left her seat for 10 hours a day. Mean as can be. And she told me the Dr. charges $500 per semester. I said I will be there tomorrow. I showed up with the school form filled out and ready for a signature. And a few $100 bills in my pocket. I gave her the form and talked with her about how the Dr makes all the money but the staff do all the work blah blah blah. I then gave her one of the bills and said my school needs to approve the site and me before I can pay the preceptor fee. She agreed. I came back 6 or 7 weeks later to start fully prepared to pay the $500. But I handed the office manager another $100 and thanked her for getting me in there. I was never asked for the fee after that...LOL. Just get creative and bold. I am working now. I am earnign now. Nursing isn't a community. Nurses eat thier young. If u are not prepared to spend $500 for 15 weeks ....think about the tuition you are paying. Get that chip off your shoulder and spend the money get out and start enjoying your freedom. I think all in all I paid $1750 for my 5 preceptors in total. But I got done in 3 semesters. My tuition was $24K. Drop in the bucket.

None of those pastries made it past the mouths of the staff and your resume was left on the pile of the Dr. with all the other files etc etc. What does the Dr want? What does the front desk staff girl want? Think about it?

yes...get the degree. Do what u need to do. Crisis ER rates in CA will pay back your loans in 3 months. Not one person asked where I went to school.

Its easy to get a preceptor. Sorry its true. People r just lazy or scared to sell themselves. I had 8 for 5 spots. 3 more than I needed. And I only called places 3 miles away from where I lived in Santa Monica. First start thinking about how to get past the secretaryt to the Dr on the phone. Second start thinking about what the client wants and what u bring to the table. Third come up with a 30 second sentence where they will say yes. I could give u my template but I want to see what u come up with. Sorry to be snarky but I thought that was pretty simple for me in SoCal.

Yes Sushi and Amy.... and even Ijeoma....just keep going. ER RN jobs $8K/month@3 twelvehour shifts only. Three on and four off. It's a great lifestyle. Keep doing it. It's worth the work. Glad you all are going for it. And thanks Len for the list of other programs.
