CRNA school with children
Avilis-- Do you have kids? Wow.. Your absolutely NUTS!

crna school
Foreign language at a community college? I wouldnt waste my time. First of all i would recommend choosing two schools that you really want to attend and consider calling the director and asking what he/she advises to improve your chances. If you take biochem and chem classes that arent necessary BEFORE your accepted, puts you at risk to lowering GPA even further. Personally, i think your credentials are acceptable. Keep trying and good luck!

Swan Lines
The interview process is geared to your experience..If you "present" yourself as a CVICU nurse with all kinds of cardiac/ swan experience, they will expect you to know exactly what you tell them that you do. If they ask you a question that your not familiar with, they will appreciate your honesty that your not familiar rather than blow smoke. They basically look at your work experience that you provided on your application - questions are based on that. Good luck!

Starting TWU Fall 2006?
Hello-- I'll be attending TWU in the fall 2006.. Just curious to know if there are many/any papers to write? I know the science stuff will be a bear but lengthy research projects i tend to worry about. Silly i know. Thanks in advance for your help. B.

Starting TWU Fall 2006?
Hey.. Yes, i'll be one of those 120 students attending. A little anxious to find out where my clinical site is so i can find a place to live. I dont know Reinke but i've heard the stories. I'm excited about school itself, but the issue i'm dealing with is leaving my family....I was fortunate to be informed early to start working thru the transition before April. Anyway, i'll be glad to get the "show on the road". Keep in touch.

Tuition reimbursement with first CRNA job.
The bottom line.... Get through school and THEN look at student loans being paid. If you decide to have the same standard of living that you did as an RN for the first year and half, I believe the loans would be history.

Tuition reimbursement with first CRNA job.
Interesting to read this concern..I will be attending a CRNA program starting in August. Director of education at the hospital that i'm currently employed actually approached me regarding possible tuition assitance. I actually never even considered this a concern when i was considering. Our hospital was awarded a federal grant to be used for education purposes for health care/allied health and it's not from the hospital themselves. Would you mind providing more information on this so i can make an informed decision when it comes time to consider a contract? Thank you! B.

Will a B in Chemistry hurt my chances?
sorry i have a correction to make... Rather than your nursing GPA being considered it's your science GPA. usually 3.0 or better. You got it!

Will a B in Chemistry hurt my chances?
Given that you have consistently done well throughout your undergraduate studies, certainly a B will not hinder your chances to be a CRNA. They look at your last 60 hours, overall GPA, and nursing GPA. All numbers are taken into consideration. My advice though is to take your GRE NOW while your still in school and the math and vocabulary is still fresh in your mind. I was just accepted into a CRNA program. Yes, i'm VERY excited. Good luck with your nursing studies. Be patient though. Dont look too far down the road and lose sight on what's important. Graduate FIRST! Then move in the direction of critical care. I have never advised ANY new graduate to work in an intensive care unit fresh out of school. Your a danger to the patients and a burden to the staff. ( I worked in a progressive care unit for 4 years before moving to critical care) Definately not advising my track, but learn how to TALK with patients and see normal before jumping into machines, monitors and choaos. Good luck! B.

Do you have internet at work?
We have internet access in our icu and hospital wide as well. Obviously numerous employees have abused the system and most sites have been firewalled. I believe we can still access for work related issues. (which brings me to the idea of the original purpose in the beginning:roll

Waiting for result of interview, Can't be relaxed.
This is probably not encouraging advice....But, I know exactly the PAIN one experiences waiting to hear regarding acceptance. I interviewed last february and was denied in April. And i tell you.. Opening that letter and reading it...... Not only was it a powerful feeling of rejection, BUT it made me come back a stronger person and MORE determined than ever before. I talked with the program director at TWU in Fort Worth and he gave me advice on how to prepare for the next interview. I took his advice and had my interview two weeks ago... And was told before i left the building that i was accepted! Only advice i can give is NOT to put the world on hold waiting to hear if your accepted. If it's where you should be, then it will happen. But if not, then there is a reason for it. And that's all i have to say about that..:)

Help!!! My Interview For The Anesthesia Program Is In 1 Week. Any Last Minute Tips?
Be sure and CALL them as much as you need to get an answer. The line i've used is "i'm just calling to make sure that you've received all the requirements for my application". And then "when can i expect to hear about an interview?". Thanks for the good luck. I'll keep you posted:)

Future TWU student
Interested to see if there are any other applicants (that use this forum, website) to TWU for the Fall of 2006. I'm interviewing next week (second interview) and would like to form a "support group" early and discuss issues as time progresses. And would appreciate ANY feedback or advice especially if anyone has interviewed for the second time. Thanks alot.

Help!!! My Interview For The Anesthesia Program Is In 1 Week. Any Last Minute Tips?
Thank you alot for replying to my thread. TWU is my first and only choice for NA school. I only applied to TCU for another option just in case i didnt get in at TW. But since they want me to retake my GRE for an interview, i think i will stay focused on the original plan. Anyway, my interview is next week 11/22. I'm meeting with a CRNA that i met at the hospital to give a few pointers tomorrow evening. THanks for the good luck. I've been carrying that Pass CCRN book around with me for months now. It's ALL i think about and read. Guess i'm just preparing myself to next August. Is the respiratory/physiology Reinke? Yes, the staff has been very curtious to me. John Martin actually talked with me on the phone last april when i got my denial letter. He gave me pointers and said that if i did what he advised, i would have no problem....... Just that feeling of "am i missing something?" Did you get in on your first interview?

Help!!! My Interview For The Anesthesia Program Is In 1 Week. Any Last Minute Tips?
Nitecap- just wanted to tell you that i have been looking on the net for hints on interview techniques (oh for about 9 months now) and a week before my second interview i run across this website and see your advice. It's interesting because a CRNA that i've been talking with quizzed me on a few questions and one of them was regarding the heart transplant with atropine. She said they had asked her that question in her interview a 4 years ago. Only personal question i was asked is "why did you only apply to one program?" (versus TCU). Anyway, i've been carrying the CCRN book around with me for about 6 months now focusing on resp and cardiac. Wished i had been doing this the past 9 years of critical care nursing! Thanks for the interview tips.

Admission to CRNA Program
hey i just wanted to comment on your message here.. I have an interview scheduled for Texas Wesleyan at the end of this month and this will be my second interview. It was very interesting since when i presented for my interview and denied admittance i thought my GRE took a role in that decision. BUT, i was told that my GRE was fine. (my score was probably the lowest in the entire nation) around 700! Anyway, TCU has told me that i need to retake it in order to get an interview. I cant seem to understand the difference of a higher GRE to the success in a CRNA program. Sorry to ramble. I just wanted to add a line here. thanks for listenin.
