  1. I got notified of an interview yesterday around 5pm. I spoke with the graduate program coordinator and he said there were 48 interview slots this year for 9 spots (1 person who deferred last year is taking the 10th spot). So about 1 in 5 will get a spot which seems pretty average. This is the first year they're doing a short written test that he said should be done in about 5 minutes.
  2. No I accepted a spot in Case Western's program this Spring so I won't reapply. The interview was super laid back. Three rooms. One was a clinical scenario with the assistant director (that was very laid back), one was with the director where they ask normal interview type questions, and one with a current student and faculty that was basically getting to know you questions. They basically tell you during the interview process that everyone they interview is qualified and could be admitted to the program academically and experience wise, and that they really are looking for people that they are going to get along with, that will fit with the culture, and that they like as people. They said repeatedly, "Be yourself."
  3. I interviewed there this cycle and was waitlisted. This year they upped to the number to 12 positions. Seems like a fantastic program. I definitely would have accepted had I gotten a spot.
  4. Applied to 6. Interviews at 5 so far, waitiing to hear about the sixth. Waitlisted at three before getting accepted at one of my top choices before turning down two interviews.
  5. Just got offered an interview my email today, however I turned it down so hopefully that opens up a spot for someone else. Good luck all!
  6. Well everyone, I just got offered a spot, and I'm going to accept. I'll be joining you all in June!
  7. Applying here this year as well. I'm in the NW so this is by far my #1A choice in programs. I know my wife is ready to bribe the admission committee with our firstborn to get me in here so we don't have to uproot. I spoke with the program director and she said they look for the same thing every school does as far as ideal applicants; 4-5 years high acuity ICU experience, high science GPA, high nursing GPA, CCRN, ACLS, PALS, preceptoring, committees, rapid response, charge, aced interview, etc. Nothing special.
  8. Finally finished my application today (waiting very nervously for one last letter of rec). Really hoping I can get a chance to interview here. I know how great a program it is. I wonder if the DNP change will affect the number of applicants.
  9. Does anyone know if there has been any movement on the waitlist? Monkey Man did you get into that other program?
  10. Waitlisted. This is my third waitlist and I'm feeling pretty defeated. Do programs even tell people that interviewed "no?" It feels like everyone who interviews gets on the waitlist. Congrats to everyone that got in!
  11. I had my interview today. Felt like it went relatively well. Did not get an offer so I'm feeling pretty bummed. I was really hoping to get one today and quell that uneasy feeling in my stomach with all these wait lists I'm on. Congrats to those that already got in! Stoked for you guys!
  12. Congrats Delmel1! Wait list for me. Seeing how small the class size is it's feeling like the same thing as a no for me. Congrats again. Gonzaga seems like a special program.
  13. No Titrate mine said incomplete until today. The lady I spoke with on the phone said it is taking some time to connect everyones materials and update the website.
  14. I talked to them on Wednesday and they said they had an unusually large amount of apps in right before the deadline and that we all need to be patient while they sift through all of them.
  15. Also had my interview Tuesday. I think I did alright. Got a little nervous during the clinical scenario but it went fine. If they're true to their word we can find out tomorrow by emailing them. Good luck everyone! That was an impressive group of nurses there. Was pretty humbling to meet you all.
  16. Well I just got word I have been wait listed. I figured I probably didn't get in right away with all the people announcing their acceptances on here the past few weeks. Overall I'm happy as I thought I kind of bombed the interview. So hopefully I'll get some good news and be meeting you all soon! Good luck!
  17. I have an interview in two weeks. Good luck everyone! I'll see you all at the orientation.
  18. I interview in November. Good luck! This is one of my top choices so I'm really looking forward to it. I haven't read or heard what the interview is like. Guess I need to research that a bit more lol.
  19. I'm trying to get a bead on what the interview is gonna be like, and there doesn't seem to be much online about recent years. Historically it seems like CWRU has one of the more personal interviews with less clinical questions. I know in older threads posters said some got a simple math question here and there, and some clinical questions sprinkled in after being asked about patients they take on their unit, or about their shadow shifts, but I honestly can't find anything recent. I'm still gonna prepare for anything / everything, but does anyone have a better idea of what to expect?
  20. Thanks TunnelVision7! I need a boost of confidence right now. I just know the other people in my unit that are applying this year and all have fantastic resumes. I know what I'm up against.
  21. Have my interview on the 21st. Beyond nervous. Feels like the past 8 years of my life will have built up to this moment. This is my first interview for a NAP out of several I applied to so hopefully I'll get another shot if I bomb this one. The lady I spoke with today (Kasey I think) said the interview is only 25-30 minutes.
  22. And good luck to you too! I'm applying to Case Western Reserve, Gonzaga, Westminster, Kaiser Fullerton, Duke, and OHSU. I shadowed twice last week and am absolutely hooked. One was an ambulatory surgery center and one was large university hospital. Both were awesome in their own ways. I was 95% sure I wanted to pursue anesthesia before shadowing and had ACNP as an alternative plan but am now obsessed and laser focused on CRNA.
  23. Hi rn1021. I used to work with some people who are now students at Duke. They have all raved about it. They talk about the top notch clinical rotations and professors and sim lab. I don't have much contact with them now, but they all think Duke is worth the money. They all mentioned how great the interview day was (yes it was a whole day). They talk about how the interview being a whole day really lets you relax a little bit more and allow yourself to truly interview them as well to see if it's going to be a good fit. And yeah I'm applying to several programs. My wife and I decided that this is the year if it's going to happen.
  24. Finalizing my application this week hopefully. I'm on the West coast and Duke is cray-cray expensive, so Duke is not my first choice but it's still an exciting prospect. I have several coworkers who go here now and they raved about the whole admission process. Hoping I get an interview. Good luck everyone!
  25. Hey all. Applying next fall to 6 schools. I was wondering if anyone got in with a similar blackmark on their academic career. I was a paramedic for several years, have over 2 years in a busy 30 bed university level 1 CTICU that does VADs, heart transplants, tons of CABG's and valves, and SICU overflow. I have a 4.0 science GPA, nursing GPA of 3.8. I do well in interviews, write strong essays and am passionate about getting in. I also have a wife that makes good money and can support me. I feel as ready as I'm ever going to be. But I have this problem in my transcripts that I'm afraid might hurt me. In my last quarter of nursing school I needed 3 credits to keep my full time status so I wouldn't lose my financial aid. I chose history of rock n roll (easiest class possible). With one week to go in class I was going to get an A in the class without doing the final project. Well, senioritis set in, graduation parties with some family stuff, and I decided to skip the final project. Evidently I did NOT see that in the syllabus it said you needed to complete the final project to the pass the class. F. I got an F in rock history. I found out quite a bit later. I know it's not one of the core classes, but how big a red flag is this going to be to admission departments? Anyone have a similar story? Thanks!
