New Haven Yale Hospital
My partner and I are considering moving to Connecticut next year since her family is there and she finishes nursing school next May. New Haven Yale Hospital is the area that interests us the most. I am currently a CVICU nurse in NC with 1.5 years of experience so I'll have just under 2.5 years experience when we move. Any idea what starting pay for nurse residents, like my partner, and what most nurses make in general there? We're asking so we can determine if we can afford moving. Thank you for your help!

Doctor teaching nursing class
Are you sure it's not a professor with a doctorate? Like a Doctorate in nursing? Instead of an MD.

Reinventing Myself (Career Change from IT to Male Nurse)
I work with an RN who started nursing school in his late 50's after retiring from Goodyear. He's a great nurse. So no, you're not starting too late. If anything, all that life experience should really help you do well in school.

Post 9/11 GI Bill and Nursing school
Hey, any chance you'd be willing to PM me your veterans service reps name and phone number? My school is just completely unwilling to do clock hours. Maybe there's something he would understand. I called the VA main office but I'd love to talk to an actual school level rep.

Thanks so much for this! I just got officially accepted into nursing school and I've emailed my VA office about using clock hours. I was wondering if you've had any success with this?

Calling patients by "pet" names.
On a serious note, this kills me too. I hear it a lot more from females than males though. I don't doubt that both do it however. I generally just call everyone sir or ma'am until they tell me otherwise. To me, the way some people say "sweetie" sounds so demeaning sometimes. But that's probably me just projecting.

I like to pretend I'm Red from "The 70's Show" and I just call everyone dumbass.

Post 9/11 GI Bill and Nursing school
I was wondering if anyone had any experience with the post 9/11 BI Bill and nursing school. I know the BAH is determined by the zip code of the school and the number of credit hours you're taking. From looking at the program I'll be attending, some semesters have classes that are 8 credit hours, and that's the only class you take, for those semesters are you only getting 75% of the BAH for that area? Or do they adjust what they consider full time since a nursing program is full time.
