You're in Ellicot City? That's so close, I just recently moved down to Columbia! I made the drive over to the hospital from here for the occupational health appointment and the drive wasn't too terrible. The wait for the health screening was pretty long though, I got there at 8:20am for a 9am appointment and didn't get out until around 12pm. So just make sure to bring something along to pass the time because apparently it's always like that for their new hire screenings. Congrats on passing the NCLEX, erin and deavilaxoxo! I just took mine the 17th and found out I passed today I'm so relieved omg. Oh also for the badge photo they wouldn't let me take it until it was less than 2 weeks before my start date so I have to go in sometime next week again to take the photo.

Hi everyone! I heard about this thread from @erinicoleb08 on a post I made before. I'm going to be graduating in May and interviewed at the MPCU at Hopkins in March and got an offer so I'll be moving from NJ to MD! My start date's in July and I was looking for other people also starting at Hopkins this summer. I ordered a few pairs of scrubs (I probably should order more) and they came in last week! It did take about a month to come in so I definitely recommend ordering it soon after you get the instructions. Good luck to everyone interviewing, don't be nervous because they do their best to make you feel welcome, it's just up to you to present yourself and figure out if that unit is a good fit for you.

I'll be sure to look for that post, thanks! I interviewed with Eleni and Shelly!! Yeah I agree it was a really great process overall. They really know how to make us feel welcome. Did they suggest the August date to you or did you ask for it? I'm just a little nervous that it might be too soon for me but I'm going to really try and get things in order in time for the July date. Also, were you thinking of moving into one of the suburbs outside Baltimore in Maryland or living in Baltimore? I was debating between the two but we're just going to try it out in a suburb for now.

Yeah I'd love to keep in touch! Do you know of anyone else starting at MPCU this summer? I'm also relocating from out of state; I'm moving from NJ in June so I'm hoping that I can get settled in, take the NCLEX and make it in time for the July start date. Yeah I'm sure we'll definitely meet! And the other nurses on the floor who I met during my interview seemed to be really close and were really nice so I'm excited to be working with everyone!

Hi! I'm so excited to hear from another new grad starting in the MPCU!!! I interviewed on Friday and then on Monday the director of the unit called me to let me know I was being offered the job and I happened to verbally accept over the phone. Then the next day, Tuesday, I got the email from the recruiting office with the offer letter. Since I posted the original post, I got an apartment with my bf in Howard County, MD so we're both going to have a commute but we're going to try it out for at least a year and then figure it out from there. I know that sometime in June I have to go in and sign an official contract/offer letter in person when I do my occupational health check-up if that helps?

It's great to hear from people also starting their orientation in July! Congrats on getting the job as well!!! It looks like as of right now we're looking to live outside of a major city to start off with and get a feel for whether we can each handle our respective commutes and if it turns out the commute is a big inconvenience for one of us then we would probably move closer to that city. But thank you for all the advice! I'm thinking of looking at places in Maryland that are close to either a metro/train station or something of the sort so that it can alleviate some of the commuting for night shift since, like you said, the commute in the morning would be terrible. Driving from Baltimore south at around 8am would be pretty bad right? I appreciate all the advice! I'm coming from out of state so I really don't have that great of a grasp on the area

Hi! I interviewed at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore for a July 2017 start date (I'll be graduating this May) for a new grad position on their MPCU and I was offered the job! I'm accepting the position and cannot be more excited! The plan is to move down to Maryland but to live outside of Baltimore to the south at a halfway point between Baltimore and DC since my bf lives there. I was wondering if anyone had any good suggestions of where to live or any tips about working at JHH/Baltimore.
