Yes quite a few. Some found out even 2 weeks before school started. We had some that got into multiple schools and ended up choosing another one giving up their spots.

Don't give up hope a bunch of people in our class were alternates.

I've always been shy and definitely didn't want to speak up ever or be a leader. I think if you are thrown into something that makes you have to change yourself, you adapt and get better at it. I work with patients everyday now and I am not shy or afraid to be assertive all now. I am actually surprised myself but you learn to adapt.
