  1. one of my points I failed the first time was withdrawing too fast- so definately! 10 seconds administration time, 10 seconds hold time, then swiftly out.
  2. I was tested on the same skills but i don't know if this was a fluke. We will have to see if others have too.
  3. You literally just choose an element of the activities of living that you have assessed (safety, breathing, contolling temp, mobilising, eating and drinking, communication/pain, elimination) and write a care plan- nursing care and self care opportunities. There is no diagnosing. Write up only two problems- this is all in the example documentation. Make sure you choose two that are relevant to the acute problem and that your review time on both is 24 hours. So pain would be like "analgesia regularly, PRN for breakthrough" etc. Its just basic nursing care planning.
  4. Hi Stefnp Email me if you want to practice together- [email protected] - Im in Bristol 2 hours away but would be happy to meet halfway. Ive already sat it once and would love someone to do some in-person practice before late next week when Im due again.
  5. One thing Im not sure about from my first time - When documenting in evaluation under All Drugs Given During Stay- Does anyone know how much information should be here? Is it purely just a list or do I have to state frequency given and dosage as well?
  6. The rules stated in Royal Marsden are that you only need to do soap handwashing if your hands are visibly soiled so you could state that instead "my hands are not visibly soiled so I am choosing alcohol handwash". They do keep saying do it exactly like you would in practice. I have failed once too and I'm planning to do one sink handwash in each room.
  7. Im interested if anyone has heard anything about the environment in Southmead Hospital ICU. They seem to be advertising almost constantly which can mean they are either terrible to work for and chronically understaffed, they are really picky or they are extending their capacity. I have an interview here really soon and would love if anyone has heard anything.
  8. You will be standing there in the room but act as if you are just walking in the door. You can introduce yourself, let them know why you are there, ask permission for the assessment, then wash your hands before touching your patient, which you have to do to check the wrist band and allergies. But also, when in doubt, wash your hands- they arent going to fail you for overwashing, but will if you miss a moment.
  9. Hi, im an Australian living in Bristol - is there anyone in the area who would like to do some practical practice sessions? Email me [email protected] I've just failed my first try on a couple of tiny things and im due for my resit late March. I really regret not practicing for the first time. I read a lot and knew what i was doing in theory but it was not enough to stop me making stupid mistakes because of nerves. My one big tip for everyone- practice the Royal Marsden techniques while saying outloud what you are doing at all times. Including even your handwashing. And print the paperwork when you get NILE access and practice it while timing yourself.
