hi there :) im new to the site and i think i might have some tips for you. btw, i am just about to take the nclex too (next year hopefully). a friend and i grilled ourselves with assistive devices by actually not using one or both our legs and really do use the devices. experience helps a lot with retention. just use the devices and without reading the book, let ur instincts guide you. find the easiest way to use the devices.you'll be surprised that what you've just done is the actual stuff in the book :) also, i have my own code for cane walking- CAU (like in cancer danger signs, the first three letters of it) Cane, then Affected leg, and then the Unaffected leg.of course, while holding the cane at the unaffected side (if you were to hold the cane in the affected side,or the WEAK side, how are you supposed to bear your body weight, right?) its quite unconventional and a bit dangerous too but it really did help me, since i do have a difficult time memorizing gaits and stuff. hope this helps :)
