  1. I once worked in a Med-Surg unit at a small hospital. We rarely had pediatric patients, much less babies. Another nurse called a pediatrician on a baby we had one. She said something like "Your 'little one' in room 12 has a fever (or some other problem)." The pediatrician got really upset and hung up on her because she said "that is 'baby's name,' not my 'little one!'" I thought it was a little extreme since that was her only patient in the hospital at that time.
  2. I worked with a nurse who did this. It turns out that she has narcolepsy! She's being treated for it now. Aside from that, As long as the unit wasn't busy, we would be able take turns and take 15 minute cat naps at the doctors dictation desk (where no families or patients would see). The house supervisor was ok with this. Usually the strategy was- cup of coffee, fifteen minute nap while the caffeine kicked in :), and we will get you up if anyone needs help or if your patient calls.
  3. Same here. I already did my background check and uploaded my resume, but those aren't checked off on my screen. I will have to do biochem I know, statistics, and government (boo!).
  4. I looked but couldn't find one specific to informatics- maybe it's too new? Have you found out yet which classes you will have to take? I hope my speech class cancels out intro to communications.
  5. I am supposed to start March 1. Anybody else?
  6. You sound like me! I decided to go to home health. I worked weekend nights in the hospital. I easily make double what I made there doing home health. I generally work 745-3, paperwork and hour or two in the afternoon, and every 4th weekend on call. Love it, but I'm wanting to get my masters now.
  7. Does anyone know if home health case management/field nurse would qualify me to sit for the CCM exam? If so, I would love to grab some studying materials and give it a shot.
  8. Maybe I'm missing something somewhere, or maybe I just need to call and request this- Is there an easy way to change my enrollment counselor? Mine won't call or email me back, and I have questions! Anybody else have to do this?
