Proctors for distance learning courses

Published

For those of you who work and take classes that require proctoring of exams for your distance learning courses, do you have an arrangement where you can have this done at your facility. Like for a nominal fee, someone in the nurse educator or patient education department watches you and makes sure you don't cheat and you could schedule it either a couple hours before your shift or when you got off?

This would be much more convenient than having to have it done at a local community college.

Can't do this because I work home health. I am going to check with Pearson Vue, seems they would be a logical choice to do this for a fee.

i prefer to use an independent proctor. the consortium of college testing centers http://www.ncta-testing.org/cctc/ has worked very well for me. they have a list of proctoring facilities and a general indication of what the facility charges.

according to their website: the consortium of college testing centers (cctc) is a free referral service provided by the national college testing association (ncta) to facilitate distance learning. the purpose of the cctc is to make test administration services available to students at educational institutions away from their campuses. these services are provided in traditional paper-pencil formats as well as by on-line, web-based servers at some sites.

I use a professional testing center.....$29 for me.

Some schools or centers charge by the hour or by the test. The cost ranges from $10-15 an hour or $25-35 for the entire test--which could take more than one hour.

I had to do this once. It was with a state school. They would let anyone with a professional degree proctor. I used a teacher from a local high school I know. Free and all I had to do was submit paperwork to prove their employment.
