Prn

I am worried I won't get to work enough....My dad just died in July & mom is now having bilateral knee replacement sx.....sooo I need to adjust my schedule to fit life right now. I work in a small rural hospital app. 100 beds. I want to work but not on a set schedule......So I was wondering how has prn it worked for you? Thanks

I work prn and trust me you'll be getting plenty of work if its any thing like Fla, the phone will ring almost every day! Good luck!

When I went to prn after my daughter was born not a day went by that the phone did not ring. I also work in a smaller hospital.

When I moved to OB one of my coworkers cut down her hours and I was offered a budgeted position of her excess hours. It works great for me. We self schedule so I can pick when I work and there are always extra days that I can pick up if I want to or am able to. In our unit our manager is very flexible with how many hours you're willing to commit to whether it's one 12 a week or 2 or 3... so maybe you could propose something like that. Then at least you are guaranteed a certain number of hours if you're worried about getting none.

Thanks. I know they call me a lot now but I am full time...I guess I am worried for nothing. I am also on nights & they did tell me if I went prn I would never get a day position...oh well I guess if I go prn I will work when I want to! Thanks again!
