Private LVN Programs

Published

Hi, Can anyone give me advice on which private college has the best Lvn programs..(concord, northwest, pacific college, etc). I'm more intrested in the percentage of pass rate and how much clinical the studens are exposed to. I know they are all $$$$ I don't have 3-4 years to wait at this point.

Thank you

Contact your state board of nursing. They keep track of pass/fail rates for grads from all nursing programs in your state. Some will also include the number of people testing. This helps if a school has a high drop out rate. If only 1 person tests, they could have a 100% pass rate, but what happened to the rest of the class?

I attended Concorde. PM me if you want more details :)

I am going to make a suggestion that it might be worth considering to get on a waiting list for a cheaper school. They may say it's 3 or 4 years, but a lot of people drop off the list over time and you might not have to wait as long.

The reason is that the job market for LPNs and RNs is in the toilet right now and it might be better to time your graduation so that you hit the market when it starts to bounce back. A lot of people are coming out of school right now with massive debts and not a job to be found.

If you can, skip the LVN and go for your RN. As an LVN myself, I can tell you that there are no jobs, period. Nothing more need be said. And if you think that you can work in SNF or LTC, guess where RNs are working when they can't find a job at an acute facility AND the SNF or LTC WILL hire the new grad RN before they hire the new grad LVN. Times are tough and the market is very competative, you must stand out in the crowd, more education, more certification, volunteer where/when you can for experience. Good Luck!

Becareful,my best friend just recently had a very awful experience with the LVN private school. She had to switch to another private LVN school because other schools wont accept her credits!.The LVN private schools cost tons of many, credits cannot be transferred to regular college. My friend told me they wanted additional 35 grant for RN!! Bachelor usually cost that!!! my friend also told me the school was adding "extra" classes out of blue and made up additional Hesi tests at the end of each semester to make more profit.
