Preparing for CPNE...

so i took and passed ls 1 today (yay!) and i have 3 nursing exams left plus 2 gen eds. i was wondering if i should start doing something now to prepare for the cpne? i honestly have no idea where to start, but i don't want to be totally overwhelmed when i first apply for it. so if you have any suggestions i would love to hear them!

I would go to the CPNE section on ECs website and get yourself organized as far as the documents required when you do your application. You will need to have your immunization record and a physical exam should be scheduled as close to the date of your actual CPNE app as possible (you must keep it current while waiting for a CPNE date). Start saving money to pay for the experience. Put away as much as possible between now and then.

If I were you, I'd focus on the exams you have left. I really don't think you can get very far with CPNE study unless you can put 100% into it. Don't worry too much right now about the CPNE -- once you get the study guide, reading it through one time will give you a great overview. What you're asked to do in the CPNE is basic nursing -- assessments and management. Nothing fancy. You'll get there. :)

I agree 100% with LunahRN. Don't even concern yourself with the CPNE until you're ready to take it. Then it will consume just about your every waking moment whether actively studying or not, because you will still be going over mnemonics while doing your everyday activities. When you do become eligible, besides the actual CPNE manual, I would invest in the EC flash cards. Those things should go with you everywhere you go since they list every critical element you need to worry about.
