Well I'm assuming you're in your core classes right now, so the things taught to you will be directly related to what's in whatever specified textbook and your course syllabus that you'll be using for your course. Can't really tell you to read up on anything other than what's in your nursing book, because it's there to teach you how to be a nurse.
But you will want to make sure you've got a good understanding of the organ systems you've learned in A&P; they'll all be coming back constantly
If you really want to be a gold star, you can make life a bit easier on yourself by watching g some youtube videos on things you'll learn in skills lab, that way you're a bit ahead of the game as far as procedural knowledge goes, til it's time to apply them practically.
And if you're interested in that then some points to hit are:
Finding radial, apical, carotid, pedal pulses
Taking a blood pressure
Proper use of a stethoscope
How to do a head to toe assessment (I'd spend the most time learning about that, this is a skill that's o going even once you become registered)
Making beds and mitered corners
Donning sterile gloves (I've seen people struggle with this, it's odd, but I guess it can get tricky to remember how one mistake and you instantly screwed the whole field)
IV insertion
Insertion of urinary catheters for male and females
Eventually you'll learn all of these skills throughout your program, not sure the spacing of them, that varies from program to program.
i just wanted to have an idea of the usual classes they teach before starting accelerated program. i have all the pre-reqs

You want to prepare? Relax as much as you can and focus on stuff not school related.
You won't be prepared even if you tried and putting yourself through unneeded stress before you even start is unwise.
My best advice: dont forget to work out and eat as clean as time/budget allows
thanks , that is what i wanted to hear. im also a male nurse, ive been working out since I was 15, been having around 190 lean muscle, but lately havent worked out in 3 months due to being busy with school . i totally agree with working out and keeping a healthy mind and body

Hang on skippy --- you're not a nurse yet. "Nurse" is an earned title. We frown on things like that here at AN.
If you can re-categorize stress as an aerobic activity, you'll be working out a lot more in the very near future.
i guess it forgot to add future male nurse . thanks
