Pregnant student

FINALLY after all these years and hard work I found the right school and aced the entrance exam. Now I have less than a month to start my program and just found out yesterday that I am pregnant with my first child. I'm over emotional right now, I don't know what to do. Can I survive this 12 month program? I never had a child I know it won't be easy but I just want to know that I can do this I don't know if this is possible. I also work full time can anyone else here relate ? Advice ? Pray for me please!

Hey! Calm down sista :) You can do it! I had my first child in the middle of my RN program. Yes, I had to take a semester off to give birth (I've seen others who haven't had to take a break at all) but I still made it. Through all of the clinical hours, working full time, sleepless nights, days of being up for 36+hours, having a new born and being a newly wed but it was so worth it. I love my job! But if nursing is truly your calling and you really want it, you can make it. Promise!

I have birth my third level of nursing school. I had her May 20th and graduated Aug 20th. You can do it. You just gotta stay focused on yor health and studies. Don't stress out. Plan ahead like child care when baby is born and see if your school allows for some time off.

I'm not kidding either, I gave birth on a Tuesday and sat in class on Thursday..... The dummy in our lab saw a lot of breast pumping lol.

Thank you ladies 😓

Hi EllePNto2b. Attending nursing school while pregnant is absolutely doable. I was in an 11 month nursing program and got pregnant in my second quarter. I knew it was going to be tough. Being pregnant and attending nursing school was very stressful. It was a bumpy ride for me and I cried a lot throughout the program. During my pregnancy I had a lot of headaches, nausea, loss of appetite, and often wanted to quit school. However, I held on because I had a good support group and wanted to get through the program. There was another student in my class that was pregnant but she did not struggle through nursing school like I did because she never had any of the symptoms that I described. So I guess it depends on how your body reacts to pregnancy. You can definitely get through nursing school pregnant. It might not be easy but you can do it!

The kicker is going to be clinicals, not class. There are no restrictions to attending class but there are restrictions to attending clinicals. Here, you have to have a full medical release, without restrictions, to attend clinical. Doesn't take too long if you have a lady partsl birth, very difficult if you have a C-Section because that's major surgery.

I would make sure I knew the section rate of your OB.
