Pre requisites

Published

For someone that has NO pre requisites and is looking to become an RN. Can I do the LVN program, and then do the LVN to RN Bridge?

LVN program is a year

and the LVN to RN bridge is 18 months

Which totals up to about 2.5 years give or take.

What do you guys think?

If you are attending a vocational school, you may still have to take college level pre-requisite courses. Once you pass them (and in most cases, the pass needs to be at least B-B+ due to the competitiveness of many RN courses), and get accepted into the program, you may get credit for skipping fundamentals of nursing since you would already be a licensed practical nurse. All of this depends on the programs you are applying for-each school may have their own criteria.

Does that 18 months for the bridge include prerequisites? That seems like a long time for a bridge if it did not. Most bridge programs I know of take 3-4 quarters to complete, not including all the required prereqs.
