Hi all, I have been looking at accelerated BSN programs for quite a while now and I see they have similar pre-requisites namely:
microbiology
anatomy and physiology I/II
statistics
chemistry
pyschology
Now I graduated with a neuroscience degree from Johns Hopkins University so I took chemistry. I did not take general statistics but I took Calculus II & III.
Like wise my school did not have basic anatomy and physiology I/II, microbiology but I took two semesters general biology with lab, biochemistry with lab, and at least 5 classes worth of 300-400 level biology classes.
In addition I did not take general pyschology, but I took pyschopharmacology which covered general pyschology.
Does anybody know if these requirements can be waived? Has anyone successful waved these requirement with equivalent or harder courses?
Lastly, does it matter if I take these pre-requisites at the local community college even if I already have a bachelor's degree?

it doesnt matter if you take the prereqs at community college even if you have a bachelors.
the absn programs are quite picky with the prereqs. I had to retake all my classes except for one because my prereqs were done overseas and did not match perfectly with the course they require. Its annoying... but honestly because I have alreadt done similar classes and higher levels classes it made doing these classes in community college quite easy.

You would have to talk to each school to determine what they will accept. I doubt that many, if any, will transfer because they are looking for completion of specific courses (A&P, Micro, Gen. Psych). Just because a class has some of the content does not mean it is equivalent to the course they are looking for. It would have to be essentially the same class. My program required the Bio Stats course (BIO XXX). The times that class was offered did not fit my schedule, but a math stats course (MATH XXX) did fit my schedule and they accepted it because they were looking for a true stats course and not another math class that had maybe had a chapter on stats.

The courses OP listed are not equivalents. In each instance cited, the required nursing pre-requisites are more general than the narrower, more focused courses already taken. For instance, nurses much have a knowledge of developmental psych as a foundation for nursing throughout the different phases of life. Stats is required because nurses need to understand/interpret research evidence in order to determine whether it is applicable to their practice. A&P is the foundation for - everything.
If OP managed to do well in the previous degree, I'm sure that there won't be a problem with nursing pre-reqs.
