Pre-Reading?

Do you guys pre-read for a class? Should I email my teacher about what I can do not to prepare me for my classes? Will this make me look like I am kissing but or that I want to do good? I have a HUGE course load.

I am going into my last year and with the syllabus, I have read about 10 chapters or so. I read about one a week. I did it for my piece of mind. I didn't overexert myself, do I think it was necessary, probably not, but it made me feel a little better. I don't know all the chapters by heart, but I have highlighted the important stuff.
