Post-911 GI Bill

  • Moderator

Has anyone used their GI Bill while active duty? Wondering if I would get BAH with my GI Bill while still active, feels a lot like a double-dip! lol. Also wondering how long it took to get access to the money from time of application to $$$ in bank. I am looking at an FNP program that starts in late October. I submitted my application for benefits about 3 weeks ago. Received a lovely form letter that the VA is backlogged and backed up. Haha. Enema, stat!

Any tips/experiences/comments/whatever welcome. I have never used my GI Bill, and neither has my husband - he is saving his for medical school in 2 years.

Thanks!

No you will not get BAH while you are still active. It took about 2 months for me to get my certificate from the VA. I have not used my GI bill but have been told by others that it varies on how fast you get it.
