Maybe some people that have been through this more than I have can help me please.
I had an interview at a hospital where I would like to work at 8am this monday. The recruiter said that the interview went good. I then met with the manager, who happens to know me from when I rotated there as a student, and she was excited to see me. She gave me a start date and told me who I will be placed with during orientation. She then told other Rns on the floor that Ill start there in 2 months. She later emailed me saying how glad she is that ill be joining them.
However, the recruiter has to call to officially offer the position. She said she'll call by the end of monday or tuesday and Im still waiting! I called today (Thursday) and left a message but she still hasnt called back.
What does this mean?
Do i have the position or not?????Should I second guess myself for wanting to work there???
Thanks so much for reading!!!

Chances are you have the job if the manager said she wanted you and gave you a start date. Recruiters have a ton of applicants every day they have to deal with, so their priorities are not always the same as ours.
Also, they have background checks to do and such, so don't stress yourself over this. Hang in there... she should be calling soon.
Congrats!

Why don't you call the HR person and leave a message saying that the NM hired you, gave you a start date of XXX; and, their department has yet to provide the necessary paperwork as promised.
You have the job, HR isn't living up to their responsibilities. It is the NM who makes the decision. HR only does the paperwork.

AFter meeting with NM I spoke to recruiter and told her what the NM said. She then said that shell speak to NM about how interview went and then get back to me by Tuesday.
Could it be they changed their minds?

HR nortoriously SLOW getting back to new hires. No one performs theie job (except for surgeons) at the same lightspeed nurses perform on daily basis. Could be someone out sick, unexpected employee problem needed to have meeting about, covering for others in dept. Secretary out....computer crased.....overwhelemd with calling for reference checks, didn't get criminal background check back (a must before offical hiring can be done). Since your start date is 2 months away, suspect callback is on the back burner.
If you do not hear akc by middle next week, then call back Manager to follow-up with HR.
Tip for other managers:
If not getting candidates applications sent to you by HR, include in followup email to dept a cc to YOUR boss.
Worked like a charm last week.
