I have an interview at Hopkins on June 18th for their new grad ER position.
I would be relocating from Chicago and wanted to know if anyone has interviewed recently here, especially new grads. If so, what was the interview like (types of questions, anything off the wall?).
Also does the hospital pay for your flight and/or hotel if you are coming in to interview from out of state? If you don't know how would you go about asking for them too?
Finally, what is Baltimore like and would it be worth the change of scenery? I am interviewing in the ER and have 6 years of paramedic and 1 year of Flight medic experience.
Thank you so much for the help and info!!!!! :bowingpur

Hi,
I can't answer any of your Hopkins questions but as for Baltimore if you like city living I think it is a great place. It is diverse, fairly cheap and the location is great, close to the beach, DC and NYC. Come see what you think. Good luck.

Likewise, no inside info on Hopkins but I agree Baltimore might be ian interesting change of pace. So much access to so many tgings here.
Are you a single guy? Lots of entertainment, professional sports, art scene, music scene (not quite as cool as Chicago....music wise ofcourse) I would also think much less expensive too. You can head to NYC or the Ocean for a weekend getaway. It's also got a blue collar feel, similar in my mind to Chicago or Pittsburgh.
The thing that I am done with here is the heat. I can't take the summers anymore. The humidity is oppressive most of June, July, and August. I know lots of people who love the heat though and consider it a small price to pay for the lack of snow in the winter.
Hopkind is also located near a pretty up and coming part of the city. Ask around for places where you might live. Butcher's Hill and Fells Point are two popular areas with lots to do and a younger, energetic crowd.
Now, if you have a family with school age children, this might shift a bit.

I think the best place to live in is Charles Village. Not as chaotic as down by the harbor. They also provide a shuttle service from the Hopkins campus there down to the hospital.
Thank you so much for the advice!
