Portage Learning Classes

I'm considering doing a few of the prerequisites I need for nursing school through Portage Learning. I was hoping to get input from others that have used it in the past or are currently using it. The classes I would be taking are Nutrition, Human Growth & Development, and Microbiology. I would be starting with Nutrition first. I'm currently finishing up A&P II through my local community college. I'm switching gears, because I'll need just one more hour after that in prerequisites to apply to the nursing school and I don't want to wait until July, the end of summer semester, to have it. So ideally I'd like to finish Nutrition in about six weeks. (I work full time.) I do know the classes are accepted by the school I'm applying to, an advisor there actually turned me onto it. Hearing other's experiences, timelines, etc. would be greatly appreciated! Thank you in advance!

Thanks lenwhite! I like to know what I'm getting into in advance if possible and I wanted to compare to what I've taken. Nutrition was 6 modules and I thought fairly easy, it went really well! I'm a little more worried about Micro though.

Saltlife26 , are you going to Goldfarb school of Nursing ?

ShiRuns, have you taken any exam on the modules yet? who do you have as your instructor

how many questions like Muitiple choice and short answer questions are each module in the exams? i know this might be different for Microbio? any ideas

Can someone explain to me how the exams work for Chemistry? I know that the lecture portion are not open book but the Lab portion are. Are the exams proctored? The only online classes I have taken were all open book. Thanks in advance.

Sorry lenwhite, I just saw your messages. Yes, Goldfarb is where I would like to go, currently waiting to hear on my application. But also looking at others. What about you? And how is Micro going for you?

Hi canders, I haven't taken Chemistry. But Nutrition was not proctered and not open book if that helps at all.

Just curious of the people that have taken Micro and Lifespan: how many days/weeks did you spend on the modules?

It took me about a month to complete Lifespan. I completed one module with it's accompanying module exam every 2-3 days.

Started March 9th and submitted the final exam on April 15th.

My school told me to take Microbiology with portage please can anyone share tips on the course, is it self paced, how long did it take to complete the course and the lab. Thanks
