To those that have taken chemistry through Portage Learning, I was wondering if the Pre-Exam ends up being your final exam as well? Or, if it doesn't, is the final still in the same question format as the pre-exam? TIA!
Disregard... I found my answer.

Hey there,
I am contemplating in taking General Chemistry through Portage learning. I was wondering if you can share your experience taking this course through them. I would really appreciate it.
I took Chemistry for Health Professions - 108 which has been renamed to Foundations of General Chemistry - 121.
I was able to complete the course in 6 weeks while I was also working a full time job. I did do a little of the work during the week (mostly module exercises) but did most of the work on the weekend. This course is not something you will breeze right through. You will need to show your work and there are a lot of math equations. In the course I took, there were 8 modules with an exam after each one and 10 labs that also had an exam with each one. There are no multiple choice questions on these exams, and again, they want to see your work. For the modules you can complete 1 exam every 24 hours (if you have the ability to get through it that quickly). For the labs, multiple exams can be completed in a day. Labs take 30-45 minutes, so I would do 2 or 3 in a day on the weekend until they were done.
I'm not sure what else you are looking for so if you have specific questions, please let me know.

Wow MJT ! I am impressed you took Chem 121 in 6 weeks while working. I am so disappointed with it compared to the AP classes and microbiology. I thought I could get through it faster than I am . I am spending lots of time just doing all the problems. 8 modules as opposed to 6 is also slowing me down. How was the final?

I’m considering taking General Chemistry with Portage. How are the exams? Do they mirror the practice work? I want to drop the course I’m in now because I have an instructor who assigns homework to practice but doesn’t use any similar material on the exam. It’s like she wants to stomp you, basically that’s how she summed it up.

I am currently taking chem but to be honest the support system for Portage Learning Is horrible!
I have called in multiple times (left message every time and never received a call back even though the message says you will receive a call back with 1 day) also I left multiple e-mails and still have not received any response. I’m hoping I can contact them and get a refund as I paid $700 for this course and it’s not worth it). My advice is to stay away from Portage Learning! They have no support for their on-line students!

Hi Ciara, Did you end up taking the Chemistry course? Could I ask you some questions about it?

I was looking for the answer to you question, as I had the same thoughts. “I was wondering if the Pre-Exam ends up being your final exam as well? Or, if it doesn't, is the final still in the same question format as the pre-exam?” I was wondering if you could please share your answer that you found! Thank you!
