Polygraph vs background check

Quick question do all nurses take a polygraph test when becoming a nurse or just a background check? It would make sense to take one for a gov job but do you take one before working in a regular hospital? Just asking cause I took a CVSA before a getting ready for it made me a nervous reck! I passed though.

I would never take a polygraph test for a job.

No. I would also never take a polygraph test for a job.

I've never heard of having to take a polygraph test for a job--it's always been background tests.

Personally, I'd never take a polygraph test either, as they have been known to be inaccurate...or at the least produce questionable results.

Nope, never heard of polygraphs being used for hiring practices in the civilian sector. There's a reason why they aren't admissible in a court of law; the science backing them up is highly questionable. Background check...YES! ;)

They were about to change policies concerning polygraph testing for security clearance purposes in the military just prior to when I retired. My boss remarked to me that if they gave polygraph tests to everyone with high clearances, there would be plenty of people in trouble, himself included. I was glad I missed out on that.

Some correctional facilities require a polygraph test prior to employment.

What on earth did you get asked?
