Hello friends,

Please help me out, I am in a great state of confusion!!!

I am a BSN, Indian with 6 years professional experience. I know that the registration for Australia is through the APHRA. But my dilemma is that, I am currently working in Saudi Arabia as Training & Education Supervisor, which itself is a managerial role.

I checked the SOL list from APHRA and such a position isn't mentioned there. I have experience as surgical nurse but for only 2 year, and that too, in 2008-2010. After 2010, I was hired by the MOH as staff nurse but was appointed by the Hospital to the above said role. Will APHRA reject my application??

I would really appreciate your effort and sense of help if you could help me out in this state of mine.

Thanks dears

It would seem prudent to post your queston on the International Nurses forum, rather than one for general discussion of types of RN programs.

Good luck!

Tfhere are two organisations that deal with nursing. AHPRA! not APHRA and ANMAC.

AHPRA register nurses, with their new criteria they have stated they are not interested in experience only education, so if they see that your BSN is equivalent to an AUstralian Bachelor of Nursing, then your in.

ANMAC is the organisation that assesses nurses for permanent visas. They seem to be very generous with their assessments of overseas nurses and I have not seen one nurse on these forums that has been rejected by ANMAC for a permanent visa. So that is good news I suppose for overseas applicants, which means you can still come to Australia and live but do not necessarily do nursing! and you can apply for some governments benefits right away.!

If you want to do nursing however and want to work and do not want to apply for a permanent visa, you do not need ANMAC (UNless you want permanent visa later after working in Australia) all you need is AHPRA registration.

Up until october last year, all nurses for INdia that had positive assessments from AHPRA still had to undergo a bridging course so that is another thing to consider, whether this is still needed under new criteria is yet to be reported. This would revisit you into med/surg nursing, though I would not think it would be enough for any acute employer, unless they want an educator and these are very sought out positions for Australia nurses are not often advertised, unless you can do something great like policy writing etc.
