Please, I need a help...

Hi, I'm Karol from Philippines. I'm a RN in California but I haven't work there. I'm having a hard time applying as a staff nurse since I still don't have any experience yet and I need to work in California. Please help me out.

Carol do you have the required work permits to work in the US?

I really don't know the necessary requirements. What I did after graduating from cllege was to get my local board exam and passed NCLEX for California. After passing, I don't know what to do. Please help me.

I am going to move your post to the international forums, you will find threads in there about working in the US and retrogression, if you don't already have a work visa then you have a very long wait, I think your looking at years for your visa request to be processed to allow you to work in the US

What do you think should I do? How can I process my visa?

I read the article that says, I need an employer to petition me or sponsor me to have a visa. Can I work there even if i'm not experienced nurse?

What visa are you in the US with? You can not work without a visa and with retrogression you are looking at several years and currently and for a long time will not be able to Adjust your status. If you are in the US on a tourist visa then you really need to consider leaving when it is up

You can take your english exams if you want then get your VisaScreen. Only then are you eligible for a US visa.

There are several types of visas. Do your homework and research on it online.

The thing is, you need an employer to sponsor your visa, so if you don't have experience, that's going to be difficult since most require at least 2 years experience. And most applications are denied these days even if the nurses are qualified.

Pls. research the steps you can take. There are several blogs about it online. Not everything will be spoonfed.

You're not a RN in California if you don't have your California license. All you did was pass the NCLEX-RN, that doesn't mean you have a license. What you need to do is to apply for a visa. Since you don't have any work experience as a RN in the Philippines, you might want to gain some paid experience. It doesn't look good when you go years with out ever working as a RN and expect to get a job in California as a RN. Since you're going to be waiting a minimum of 5 years for a chance at a visa, you might want to come up with a plan B and start on that while you're waiting. You might want to find employment either in the provinces in the Philippines or looking at other countries. Good Luck
