Please help!

I'm new to allnurses but I have a question....

I currently in nursing school and I work on the postpartum floor at my local hospital and I have been working there for 2 1/2 years since my externship in the nursery/postpartum. I absolutly love it there and I got into Nursing to be an OB nurse. I am graduating in May and I would like to ask my manager to consider me for a new grad position; however, I don't know what to say to her. Any ideas?? thanks in advance for your help. -Carla

If you've been working there that long and they have vancancies for nurses on the floor, chances are that your manager is already gearing up to pounce on you.

Still - it is beneficial to talk to your manager and remind her that your graduation is looming come May and that you are absolutely interested in staying right there. Ask her is you would be considered for a nuring position. This is a great time to be direct and not tiptoe around the subject. Now get out there and assert yourself!! and good luck!

Ask if you can speak with her, and simply tell her thanks for your current employment, getting you through school, and that you are very interested in staying put where you are, be honest and cut to the chase. GL!!

the sooner the better too.
