I need help writing my PICO question. I turned this question in but my teacher said it was a good start, however I need to clarify the nursing intervention and outcome.
What is the most effective blood thinner, oral medication orsubcutaneous injections, for adult patient's that develop a deep veinthrombosis?

There is more than one class of oral anti-coagulation, and subcutaneous med. Also, how will you measure effectiveness and at what point?

I think your instructor wants you to specify the medications that you want to compare. What is the drug that you would give orally? What is the injectable drug that you would compare it with? Right now, you just named 2 delivery routes, but did not name any drugs.
Also, what outcome would be measuring? Would it be a specific lab test or group of lab tests? Would you measure the incidents of repeat blood clots? etc.
Thank you for your feedback. I will defiantly use some of those when I develop my problem statement and quantitative research design.
This is my PICU question I summited I wish I seen your post before.
In adult patients, age 55 or older who have developed a deep vein thrombosis, does administration of oral anticoagulation medication compared to the administration of subcutaneous anticoagulation injection affect the development of another DVT in the future.

Lippincott has a great med refrence.
Again, I think you need to specify which medications you are looking at. I believe, but am not positive that results with traditional oral anticoagulants (warfarin) differ from the novel oral anticoagulants ( such as apixiban). I think you need to specify a time for when you are going to measure your intervention. At 1 week, at 1 month, at 1 year. But I am not sure how long patients typically use injectable anticoagulants for DVT.
