Hi to all! Im a new member here. Here is my situation. I am from Philippines and i was educated outside USA. I took my California NCLEX RN exam last September 2008. I dont have SSN and i received a notification that my application was abandon because more than 3 years has elapse. My questions are:
1. Can i still retrieve my NCLEX-RN test result and use it to transfer to New york for licensing? What are the things i need to do or submit?
2. Is it necesary to submit an SSN first to California BON before able to apply for licensing in New york?
Any situation same as mine or have ideas on what to do? thanks!

You do not need to activate your license in CA with a US SSN before applying to NY. You apply for CVS with CGFNS and then submit form and small fee to CA to arrange transfer of NCLEX results to NY
Ok thank you. But does my nclex result be still ok to be forwarded to new york eventhough more than 3 years had passed? Im just little confused on this part. Im not planning to have a license in california but i want to have a license in new york. I got my visa this year as an immigrant through spouse petition thats why i wanted to transfer it to new york to where i live. Im still on philippines as of this time.
One more thing if i transfer my nclex test resukt to new york and submit additional requirements, no need to take the exam? As long as i comply all the documents they need i get my license?

Well, first you need to contact the Board of New York and ask if a passing 2008 NCLEX is okay without a refresher. 6 years is a long time. I believe the standards were changed in 2013 for the NCLEX testing also. Think of it this way, 6 years means you would have renewed your license 2 or 3 times. There is continuing education associated with each renewal period that is required by the state. Six years is a long time to be out of school and not legally acting as a registered nurse. That is also when you took the NCLEX and not necessarily when you graduated.
Then you have to have your education verified through their required company to make sure it is on the same level of US education. It's the Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools (CGFNS).
You will also need to take a child abuse class and a HIV class too that New York requires.
Your best bet is to talk to the Board of Nursing in New York as they are the ones who will either approve or deny your application. I would try to get everything in email so you can refer back to it if necessary.
Thank you for all this information. :) I hope it wont be that complicated. I dont want to retake the test. Ill call and email NY BON with regards to my situation.
Another thing with regards to Form 3. Aside from sending it to CAlifornia BON for verification, do i need to send the form 3 to PRC because im a license nurse in the philippines also?
