Please Help!! I need advice and ideas. Thanks.

Nurses General Nursing

Published

Hi, this is my first time starting up a topic. I will appreciate all opinions and advice.

Here it goes, I got my LVN license revoked!!! I was currently in a BSN program when i heard the news and now have to withdrawal. I was 1 year from completing. I plan on switching majors and getting into a field not healthcare related.

So, my questions are:

Can I still be a licensed professional or do i need to focus on careers that do not require a license to work? I ask because when you seek licensure, there is a question that asks if you ever held a license before in anything? If i answer YES I feel i will automatically be denied.

If let's say I choose a career path that does not require licensure, would i need to disclose that I had a license at some time, or that I had a licensed revoked or suspended to my employer? In other words, would this show up on a background check? It was not criminal.

I have no criminal record, so would this pop-up if the people did not know where to look, or know that i was ever a nurse?

I'm asking cause at this point i feel limited in what i can and can't do. I feel like I can't even become a Chef at this point. I don't want to enter a school program and later find out that it was pointless.

Thank you

Well, I just don't know. If you are not interviewing for a healthcare job, I think it would not matter. What I've seen is just questions about if you were convicted of something, and you were not as you say.

If you want to be sure about things, I guess you will have to research the actual field you intend to go into to find out the qualifications and what usually is done. Being a chef, might have some stipulations, you have to talk to those who do that to find out.

Thanks netglow. I don't know the difference of whether i was convicted or not. The judge rendered a decision and revoked my license. I thought they where the same thing. I guess what you mean is was i convicted of a crime...in that regard, no. And you're right, a good place to start would be to speak with those that work in the field i plan on getting into. Thanks again. If anything else comes to mind or your hear anything, please let me know.
