PICO

Hi, I'm back in school in an on-line RN-BSN program. I'm required to do an EBP project and have to develop my PICO question. I've never done this before, so I need help. I've worked in hemodialysis for 21 years, so that's the field I will do my project in. I hoping you will give me some ideas for the PICO question. Thank you for your help.

Whether you've done it before or not, you already have most of the information you need to formulate a question. The point of a PICO question is to basically answer a question that probably yourself and your coworkers have wondered about in regards to your clinical practice. You've worked hemodialysis for 21 years, surely you've come across many protocols, procedures, etc that you wondered why you do it that way or if there was a better way to do it...start with those "regular" nursing thoughts and then go from there.

Thank you! I understand exactly what you are saying. I do have a few things in mind. I'm just hoping I can find enough research on the topics.

A few looks at the AJN series on PICOT a few years back will get you in gear!
