i thought they had loads of places there? in the past they have pushed to put people there, maybe they have filled their contract there or is it just that they want to fill the oakland places, maybe?

have a look at madwifes journal, shes been placed there with them, but im sure she will be along later to tell you all about it anyway.

There is tons and tons of work in Phoenix area at this time of year, perhaps they do not have any more contracts there. This has happened many times with them in the past, a nurse wants to work a certian place, they promise it, and then closer to the date, "oops, sorryy, we don't have it available now."

it is a bit of a nightmare because we originaly wanted to go to florida but ogp said after we signed contract with them next to no chance of getting there,so annoyed we researched other places and found phoenix ticked all our boxes and ogp were sending loads of people there, but they seem more interested in oakland where we have refused an interview for the 2nd time.our worst fear is we end up in a place we dont want to be

i know how you feel, we feel that we need to know where we are going and are getting quite jumpy about it too.

we have also turned down an oakland interview for the second time- am not going there!!!!

if only we had heard about the immigration stuff, i dont think we would be so desperate to hear about placements as at least then we would have had some news

i spoke to ogp yesterday about the same issues you are dealing with, they say that they dont try to place us until i140 unless a faclilty come forward with long term contract, this explains the repeated ogp offer.

just hang on in ther if you can, you never know fl might be available in the future,

lets hope so,but ogp seem full of false promises if they had told you exactly how it was at the start i think we would have looked at other agencies this is probably why they sex it up at the start

i notice vermont have moved again so i140 should be any day now, this is why weturned down oakland we feared taking it and then hearing other people had got florida or arizona

I'm not jumping to the defense of OGP here, I don't hold them in very high regard, not least because of the way a lot of our UK nurses have been mis-led by them, and then not always taken care of very well after landing in the US, but.......I have to be honest and say, when I spoke to them and told them exactly what I wanted and where I wanted to be (Florida), I was told in no uncertain terms I had NO chance. Also, they said I would never succeed in getting a nursing job in the US because I'm a Community Nurse and no hospital would hire me unless I got myself back onto an acute ward (no matter I've been there and done that years ago). So I guess what I'm trying to say is that they didn't give me any false promises, but hey, they did me a favour because I decided to give it a shot independently, and I've got exactly what I wanted :)

So........OGP's loss is what I say :chuckle

we told them at the interview we wanted florida for family reasons and they said nothing about not getting there until after the nclex,so i was pretty angry because as a family we believe location is crucial

location is definatley crucial, after all who wants to change their life for the worse? not me!!!

I believe the reason ogp do not place nurses in fl on contract is purely financial. Wages in fl tend to be less, and ogp do expect quite alot of money for us. i have never been told a definate no to fl just to look at other areas as it is unlikely we will get there, but then in another breath im told that the never know where the next lot of jobs will be, so there is always hope.

There is not all that much paperwork to be done. A good attorney does most of it for you. But you have given away at least $5 per hour of your salary for them to do your paperwork. :crying2:

And they have been know to change assignment locations at the last minute.

You are going to the US on a green card, which gives you all rights that an American RN has in working in the US. Do not sell yourself short. You should be in control of where you will be working, not them teling you where you will be going and the type of facility at the last minute.
