Hello,
Does someone know which accreditation a phlebotomy school needs? I will become a phlebotomist first to continue with RN. I just need to find an accredited Phleb. school in Miami. Thanks a lot for your responses.

I'm not sure, but make sure the instructor can proctor your CPT exam. Many cannot, and finding one is tough. My instructor was, and people from outside were clammoring for the few open seats we had. You may be able to look at the CPT site for your state to see if there is a list of programs or anything like that.

Why do you think you have to do this? I never heard of a school that required students to take a certification in phlebotomy. You learn how to stick veins in nursing school.
Sadly, not necessarily. We never learned about straight draws in nursing school, and only touched on draws with IV starts or even from central lines in nursing school. I only learned about this stuff by becoming a phleb (and some from being in the military). The nursing school where I ran the skills lab did teach straight draws, but not all do this, or even IVs, anymore, I think with the assumption that many hospitals have phlebs or someone else to perform these skills, and that these skills can be taught if need be.
But you are correct in that nursing schools don't generally require phleb certification. I think the OP is doing this prior to nursing school to work and get that experience before nursing. (correct me if I'm wrong, OP)
Thanks a lot for your answer. I will look into that CPT. I did not know anything about this. Thanks again
Thanks a lot for your answer RunbabyRN. I will look into that CPT. I did not know anything about this. Grn Tea I am just doing it for work purposes. Also learning is never a waste of time. Thanks a lot to both of you. I am at the beginning of this arduous journey and all the info is greatly appreciated.
