Totally false. Sorry. But you wanted our opinion. Another favorite is you need at least 2 years working experience to be petitioned and another one is you need to take the local NLE first to apply for eligibility to take the NCLEX (this is true only in some states that still require CGFNS certification - but majority of foreign RNs go to states that CGNFS certification is not required, anyway).

What was the reason s/he gave?? Did s/he gave a hard copy/proof of where s/he got it from? His/her source?

The answer would prob. be no because there's no such thing in existence. There is retrogression for the moment but people can actually still be petitioned during these times from packet 1-3 then just wait for the last stage (packet 4) when retrogression gets lifted next year.

The burden of proof is on him and if he can't provide anything then it is plain blatant rumor w/ malicious intent.

When are you graduating, btw? If you don't mind.

Also noticed that he used the gen. term foreign RNs and not specific to just Filipino RNs. If this is the case, then the more that this unreliable information.

US Congress is actually finding ways to reform the current Immigration Law to make it easier for foreign RNs and PTs to work in the US. These is also true for other Professions and skilled workers that America needs.

Those aren't valid reasons to just accept what he says at face value. As a respected prof. he should have the responsibility to give you facts and to give his source (hard proof and not just saying I read it in here or there). What he says has an impact and your parents wouldn't appreciate what he's saying either I bet.

I would like to refer you to diff. immigration websites for the latest news on the Comprehensive Immigration Reform Bill and the SKIL Bill. Sites such as IMMIGRATION: A GUIDE TO IMMIGRATING TO THE U.S., U.S. Immigration, Law Offices of Attorney Carl Shusterman and Murthy Law Firm : U.S. Immigration Law and other similar immigration websites w/c you can google are good for being updated for the latest info. concerning nurses.

Basic pay depends on what State and what area or region? SF has one of the highest if not the highest pay but also one of the highest cost of living.

UCSF basic pay is $36 (says so at their website) and privately owned hospitals can go $40 above/hour. Hard to get petitioned or sponsored on the SF-Bay area as everyone wants to work there and of course US grads are on the high preference.

Its a rumor. With all the aging rumors, properly trained foreign nurses will be coming to the US for years to come.

Retrogression won't last forever. Don't let the naysayers back home scare you!
