yes but it is called a personal statement. the school doesnt specify exactly what they want to hear. does this mean the statement is totallly dependant on what i want to say? thanks renerian

For mine, I just stated my goals, what nursing means to me, why I want to do it, and some of the obstacles I've had to overcome over the years to get to nursing school.

Give them something so they have an idea of who you are, how much you want to do this, and why that particular school. Add some of your goals in life, and that should about do it.

Yep we had to do the same. Great advice above. Be honest, forthcoming and real. That is what is important. Also, have clear goals set for yourself...say 5 years from now, in mind. This hold true for any time you apply for work or school. The want to know you are ambitious and have a clue where you are headed. Also, outline what brought you to nursing and how you plan to advance in the future. (the old saying "I just want to help people" is not what they are looking for, as you probably already know). I wish you luck! Don't sweat it!

Yes I agree with the above posts. Think of what you would like to do, where you would like to go and if you have plans to further your education after your nursing degree. I had to do one for admission into my BS/MS degree program.

In addition to what people said in the above posts, you should pay a lot of attention to your writing style and to the mechanics of writing (grammar, punctuation, etc.) Remember, they may be evaluating not only WHAT you say, but also HOW you say it.

Will your writing reflect that you are intellectually ready for college-level work? --- that you can articulate your ideas clearly and effectively? -- that you went to a decent high school that taught you how to write? etc.

Sounds like it's pretty free form and you can say what you want.

Be sincere and write from the heart. Then have someone check your grammar and spelling, just in case. :)

You may want to just jot down your thoughts to get you started, as a rough draft, then revise what you've written so it flows.

i'm not to worried about grammar i got an A in engl101 and im doing great so far in eng102 with an A avereage. but i guess it won;t hurt to have someone double check me\ thanks
