What Do Perioperative Nurses Do?

If you or a loved one have had surgery, perioperative nurses have been by your side at all times before, during, and after the procedure.  They are there to greet patients and their families upon arrival at the preoperative area and remain with the patient throughout the surgical procedure.  These nurses are patient advocates while the patient is anesthetized, keeping the patient safe.  They are with the patient in the postoperative area, meeting the patient’s needs and keeping the family informed.
