Peds ED

I have 5-6 yrs exp as an LPN in a very busy peds clinic and I absolutely adore working w/ Infants & children. I'm also a full time RN student w/ an interest in specializing in pediatric emergency medicine. Any advice??comments??stories?? Thank you! :)

Also might add that I LOVED my ED rotation in school...

It's a specialty within a specialty, that's for sure. I'm working in peds ER and love it....but am having a hard time getting in anywhere else per diem to broaden my experience. On the plus side, because it is so specialized, with a little peds ER experience you'll find you're exactly what they're looking for when you see postings for peds ER positions ;)

If you can't get in a pediatric ER directly as a new grad, look to PICU or general ER first. I started in a pediatric ER as a new grad- so some places will hire new grads, particularly ones with your experience.
