I am starting my LPN program next Monday. I have heard alot about how helpful a PDA could be. Can anyone let me know what they use.
Anything that will help me get through school will be put to good use!
I have 5 kids, the oldest being only 12. Needless to say, I am very busy and need to get the most out of every minute of studying! And a PDA would help me with the stuff I can't just pop off the top of my head!
Thanks! This board has been so great!

Some people may find PDAs helpful; however, the old-fashioned methods are of more assistance to me. I preferred to read my chapters, listen to lectures, and take notes while in school. After all, the devil is in the details. Some of my classmates tape-recorded the instructors' lectures and used PDAs, but the gadgetry was not for me. My husband bought me a PalmOne Tungsten E2 for Christmas. You can download programs on it, create a calendar, download documents from your pc and listen to mp3's (if you have the memory card). It runs around $200. I have downloaded Epocrates drug guide for free. It only holds 32 megs so if you want to download something large, you will need to purchase more memory for it. I plan on purchasing Tabers as soon as I get the extra money. Tabers and Epocrates are probably the only real programs that I will find beneficial. Good luck.:)

I got a Dell PDA and put Pepid (student nurse edition) on it. I LOVE it. I can access lab info, meds, medical dictionary, etc, etc, without having to lug around all my books. Some nursing programs require them along with all their other books etc. Plus, I have a few games to play in case I get bored on lunch Anyway, my Dell rocks...plus I have a keyboard that I bought to go with it and type all my notes in class. VERY big time saver and cheaper than a laptop.
Pepid.com...free for a few months.
Epocrates is good but after Pepid I can't go back...it's just a great program.

hi there, congrats on getting in! I'm in my 6th month of LVN school and I got a palm for christmas. Though I prefer having my Tabers and Davis hardcopies with me, I have found that my palm got me out of some sticky situations. There are places online that you can d/l Tabers and Davis onto your Palm but you'll have to pay about 150 bucks for it. If you use other resources, i'm sure they have downloadable programs. good luck to you!
