Check out St. John's and St. Luke's for PCT positions or perhaps unit secretary positions....similar pay and benies and I know St. Luke's recently had openings....the SSM hospitals are also possibilities....once you have some experience, it should be easy enough to transfer back to Barnes as you get closer to graduation if you are still interested in working there post-graduation....
Best wishes!!!
I am getting my pre-reqs done and will transfer to barnes or slu for nursing, but in the meantime I wanted to work in a hopsital setting. At Barnes they say you can work as a pct if you do a 12 week orientation (if your not in nursing school currently). I really want to do that, and ive applied numerouse times but I havent heard anything. Does anyone else know of any other positions I can try for or anything???
I got a call from St. John's about a month ago, they are looking to fill up their summer 8 week long training class to become a PCT for them...now's the time to call their human resources department and tell them you're interested (after you've submitted an online application)...I just suggest applying for as many of the listings for PCT online as possible (that is what I did)...good luck! :)
I work for St Anthony's as a tech at one of the urgent cares. I really love my job, although the pay isn't spectacular at Anthonys. The techs basically help the nurses: put on casts, Ekgs, phlebotomy, etc. They also do patient registration. I like it because it isn't crazy busy, the nurses are usually open to teach and train whenever you have questions, and the physicians are also approachable with questions. It's a great place to start out.
They will say they prefer that you have experience, but I had absolutely no experience and I got the job. I was planning on going into the medical field and had a strong work ethic, and I talked that up. With PRN positions they aren't as particular because if they hire you and end up not liking you, they just won't call!
