I honestly do not know the answer. Will do some research. Meanwhile, I am moving this to the OB forum, in hopes someone there will be able to help out.

PCR stands for polymerase chain reaction and it is used to test for a variety of diseases such as HIV, Toxoplasmosis, Herpes, etc..

My understanding of PCR testing is that is it a more specific testing technique and requires only a small amount of DNA. The technique involves amplification of the specific DNA sequence.
