PBSC RN Nursing Program Fall 2019

Nursing Students School Programs

I know that it might be really early starting this thread, but I am already panicking about getting into PBSC's nursing program. I'm also worried about the getting a good score on the HESI.

Hi!

I hope to get into pbsc rn program as well! Just took my hesi today actually. I think i have exactly 25 points but im not totall sure. Its nice to know someone else is panicking also. How many points do you have so far?

Hi! I have been waiting for someone to start a thread! I am definitely panicking! I have every pre req class needed ( except the critical thinking nursing since Broward does not offer that ) I have a 4.0 GPA and yet I only have 25.5 points! I can't believe they redid the point system and took away classes they required before like nutrition and human growth which I specifically took to boost my points up and now are no longer considered. I passed my Hesi the first time, but I saved reading for last and burnt out lowering my over all . I got a 94 in AP, 88 in Math, 84 in Chem, 82 in Bio etc but reading gave me exactly a 80 so I dropped down to a 86% overall. I am hoping to retake reading in a few weeks to try and boost up my points!

I think i have 25.07 points in total with a 3.96 gpa and a 91.14 on the hesi (so 9.11 points). I got over 90s on everything except anatomy as im taking anatomy 2 right now. I really want a 94% overall. They said to aim for 25.44 points for fall 2019 which is scary. But with ur 25.5 you should do fine anyways. I dont have the critical nursing class either since im origionally from FAU. I hate how they also took away volunteering in 2014 as a point. I would have 26 since i volunteered at a hospital for a year.

I know! They had extra points for some other classes that I took specifically at Broward so I can enter with as many points as possible since I couldn't do the critical thinking class either. I mean all the classes were needed for bachelors so its not a complete waste but its just a bit upsetting that we can be tying in points with someone who has a 3.0. The reading during the Hesi brought my accum. down to a 86% because one of the reading sections i got a 69%. I was so burnt out by the time I did reading last . I got a 82% over all for reading but I am hoping to retake it to bring it up even if its to a 89% that will at least get me close to 26 points.

Question Niki are you a degree seeking student? I spoke to one of the nursing deans and since I am enrolled in Broward I need to switch to non degree seeking there and apply to PBSC as degree seeking but I am suppose to finish my last 4 classes in the summer at broward to get my AA and graduate in Dec. I was hoping to apply in may for August because I will be done then with all my classes and just will go back to Broward for graduation in December but they are saying I can't do that , and if I switch to non degree seeking then none of my classes will be covered by financial aid? I only have 4 classes left which is under 25% so I can't finish at PBSC for my AA without taking more classes because you need to have 25% of your classes completed at the college you graduate from. Did they tell you the same thing since your coming from FAU?

I was worried too, but I looked at the stats from the previous 2 classes accepted. Lowest accepted applicant for for Fall 2018 was 24.87 points and lowest for Spring 2019 was 24.67. Average applicant accepted was slightly above 25.44 for Fall 2018 and for Spring it was 25.35. I know every admission cycle is different but it seems like if you have a 25 or above you should be likely to get in.

I haven't taken the HESI yet so I'll probably wait for the next admission cycle. Assuming I get the lowest possible 80 on the HESI, I'll have 25.13 points. Kinda borderline, so hopefully I can do better than 80 on the HESI if I study.

**These are stats for the Lake Worth campus** Bell Glade avg is about a point lower.

I never knew they had that before! That's SO annoying that they took that point away! Ugh that is actually relevant to nursing school too. Kinda surprised they would do that.

I was surprised as well! They should have it for an extra point again. But oh well

have you all taken the HESI yet? I still need to take it ugh. Gonna try and take it next week. What resources are most helpful to study for it?

Totally cramming, but oh well ?

Yea i took it once already and got a 91.14... i bought the book to study from but only skimmed it before taking the test (like the day before) and the test was easier than i thought it would be. Youve learned all of it before and math is basic with a calculator on ever question. My lowest score was anatomy (the only one i didnt get a 90% or higher on i believe) and thats only cause i didnt anatomy 2 under my belt. But time yourself well as i almost ran out of time. I heard of alot of people studying a week before taking it and that was enough time. Goodluck and let us know how you do!

Try to look for a practice test! I did do that beforehand
