Published

Hi all you fabulous nurses and nursing student, I am in the process of applying to a different nursing program than the one i am in now, right now i am at a community college ADN program and im not sure if i can start this year (nursing program that is) i had to take the NLN so i could by pass all these classes which i ended up taking half of them anyway and i scored a 112 composite score whcih i know that isnt that great but i had been out of school for 8 years and i had no idea what to expect, Now i am taking the PBS exam at a vocational LPN program which i could start in a few months if i did well, my question is what is the PBS test like? Is it harder then the NLN PN Exam? any info would be greatly appreciated

I'm taking the PSB test too (tomorrow, yikes!) and the study book recommended for the test is called Nursing School and Allied Health Exams Entrance Exams by Marion Gooding. But here's a website I found with practice questions based on the book and explanations of the correct answers:

http://cfcc.net/learninglab/PSB/PSB.htm

The one thing you'll find on the website that isn't in the book is the practice tests for the non-verbal/spatial material. Also, all of the stuff covered in the book may not actually be on the test, it will depend on the school...for instance, the test I'm taking tomorrow is on antonyms, non-verbal spatial, reading and math only, no science. Anyway, I found the website and book very helpful for studying. I'll find out soon if it paid off!! ;)

Good Luck!

Edited to add: The book is separated into sections based on whether or not you're testing for RN, LPN, or Allied Health and the difficulty of test questions vary based on that.

Thank you so much, I am sure you will do very well on your test tomorrow, keep me posted!!! The website is very helpful thank you so much And good luck on your exam tomorrow

Thank you!! Keeping my fingers crossed, but I think the test went well. Won't know for a couple of weeks though. The test was in two sections; a mixed bag of math (mostly word problems), antonyms and LOTS of those spatial problems and then reading comprehension. No science or spelling. Those study aids definitely made a difference!

Anyway, even if I pass the test there's still another 8 weeks to go before I find out whether I get in or not. The waiting is soooo agonizing!!!!

Good luck with your test as well, keep us posted!:)
