Pay Equality Day

http://thinkprogress.org/economy/2013/04/09/1839281/on-equal-pay-day-why-women-are-paid-less-than-men/

I have read the same excuses for pay inequality here. Fortunately nurses do better in this, pay equality, in general.

It is a good reminder that women are not treated equally in the pay check department. Perhaps use this as a reminder to self to stop blaming women for needing government assistance when they are working full time.

Today look at your paycheck and if it is equal to the checks of similar workers, regardless of sex, kiss it. You are in a minority of workers and fields where it is likely to be the case.

My daughter is a software engineer - another area with no gender differences, but her working environment is much different than ours, especially since her job requires international travel. Many times, they don't even have a convenient women's bathroom - LOL. She was once introduced as "our programmer . . . with b**bs" but has a great sense of humor and realized that no offense was intended.

Reminder - we all need to encourage mentor more girls to enter STEM (science, tech, engineering, math) fields.

Amen. It is so good to hear of females in that male dominated field. For so long we were brainwashed about the coulds, and shoulds, and never minds you are a girl: that it is music to my eyes to read of this woman.

You can be very proud.
