Hello Everybody!!!
I am new here and I am trying to find out few info about the PAX exam. I will take it in August . I will be taking the paper version at CCAC (Community College of Allegheny County).
Anybody knows if they will take in consideration your GPA? My GPA right now is 3.3. For nursing school the minimum GPA is 2.5.
I was looking for info, the only thing I found is that they will take your Composite Percentage from the test, your composite GPA and they will be combined for a total score. I am a little confuse about it and what it does really means.
I am very nervous right now I am 34 and I really don't want fail this one.
I always tell everybody: I want to become a Nurse before I get too old and I will need one for myself :)

Hey,
I'm also taking mine in August, but i believe mine will be on the computer. Right now I'm looking through the NLN review book that i picked up and brushing up on my math skills.
I think each nursing school is different with how they determine who gets in or not. Some schools weigh your GPA and PAX results equally. Others look more at your GPA. I think the goal is to do as well as you possibly can on the PAX exam. I wish you the best of luck. I have (7) weeks until i take mine... Can't wait to get it over with though :-)
Thank you for the reply. I will take mine August 14th and as you, I can't wait to get it over. Best of luck to you too!!!!!! :)
lol mine is on August 14th also. Happy studying:)

If you can do the questions in the NLN Review guide ( grade yourself ) try to at least get the scores they have in the book. You will do just fine. I took the PAX RN exam on the computer and to me the questions in the review guide were harder. Don't get me wrong, i'm not saying that the test was easy, by no means. Just go through the review guide as many ties as you can. And don't forget to time yourself one hour for each section. You should be prepared to answer at least 80 questions in one hour.
Right now I am taking every question on the book and for the Science and English part I score 88% all the time. The math portion is what is giving me trouble, can't score pass 73% at the most. I have only 10 days left and I am terrify right now. Math portion it's not very hard but I get lost sometimes especially if I time myself.

Hi everyone,
I took the NLN-RN exam last week. It was a computerized exam. Good thing I got my results right away. The exam was 3 hours-no break-. Unfortunately I ran out of time on English and math sections. There were 6 reading parts and I am a ESL student, so it took me a little longer to read and understand . I had to guess almost 15 questions on English and 7-8 on math sections without even looking at the questions. I had enough time for science section, I even checked my answers-I am glad I did. At the end of the exam I had a bad headache, but I am happy it is over. I am sure you guys gonna do super :). Gook luck to you guys
Thank Askim and congratulation!!!! Like you I am ESL but for some reason (maybe luck) I do good in English, the only thing that put me under pressure is multiple choice especially when you have to do the thinking like in the math section. Where I am from we don't use multiple choice test in schools (I am from Italy). We do get tested in math both in writing (but not multiple choice) and viva voce aka oral. Maybe this is the reason why so many people think I talk too much :rotfl:
Thank you Emygres. That is great that you do good in English. I was scared of vocabulary, but I did OK. I think that math and science effect your composite score more than English, so watch out for math . Now I have take the TABE test . When is going to end????? Good luck to you again. Let us know
CONGRATS TO YOU ASKIM!!!
Emygres, try going through and doing the composite tests. Just keep repeating the math portion over and over. The math questions on the test, in my opinion were, nowhere near as difficult as the ones in the review guide.
Thank you
