Hi, this is my first year of nursing and I have to write a paper on a topic of pathophysiology, I have no idea how to do this and not sure how to even start this. I stated something like the pathophysiology of lupus and he said that might be to broad. Does anyone have any idea and how would I even write a 8page paper... aghhh this is so confusing, if anyone has any ideas and how to format an outline, I would owe you. thanks

Have you been given parameters within which you are supposed to write?

Lupus is a hard condition, simply because it is systemic.

He didn't say what topic it had to be, it can be anything. I am just so confused on how to write this and on what. I asked about jaundice in newborns and he said way to broad. so kinda stuck on what to choose and how to write it at this point. thanks for your help I really appreciate it

Appendicitis. It is the most common disease that requires emergency surgery. The patho phys is fairly straight forward. The "organ" itself is about as simple as you can get.

even the pathophys of an mi (heart attack) would be very straightforward.

talking about the cardio-pulmonary circulation, and the sequelae of events that interrupt this process.

it will likely be more than 8 pages, but lots of valuable info...and very black and white.

I'm kind of nerdy....I could come up with a lot more :specs:

Think very narrowly when planning a paper like this....8 pages is really not that long!

Good Luck to you!

didn't you get any direction on how the paper was to be organized from the instructor?

pick a specific disease. discuss a little about the normal anatomy and physiology of the organ involved and then go into the specific pathophysiology that results in the signs and symptoms of the disease.

you can see a huge listing of all kinds of diseases and how they are written up for general consumer information on some of these internet websites:

you might get more help if you post on the student forums. you get to them by clicking on the "students" tab at the top of any allnurses page you are on. you will find lots of helpful weblinks in the sticky threads in many of the student forums. the links i gave you above came from this thread: https://allnurses.com/forums/f205/medical-disease-information-treatment-procedures-test-reference-websites-258109.html - medical disease information/treatment/procedures/test reference websites
