Took my boards yesterday and passed! Such a relief now i can really enjoy my new job:)

As others have done, I would like to share how prepared.

This is what i did:

I started studying 2 weeks after graduation back in December. I bought NAPNAP's online review course and did 2 modules a day and read along with the PNP review guide (Orange book) I did about 50-100 questions a day from NAPNAP's Core Review Book. I also read some chapters in my Burn's Pediatric Primary Care text book and read some case studies from Burn's Pediatric Primary Care Case Studies on subjects i wasn't totally clear on. Both of these texts i already had as they were required for school and they were on the PNCB's reference list for test questions.

I also read some class notes and used some websites (AAP and CDC). I did this for the 1st 5 weeks. The week before and week of exam i continued to do questions daily from the Core Review, did practice tests from exam edge, did PNCB's exam prep questions, and listened to Barkley's Review on CDs. This was a overkill and i fried my brain but I wanted to make sure i was well prepared.

From taking the exam I think Barkley's Review (a lot of what she said was on the exam exactly), the orange book, and doing questions would have been enough.

CONGRATS to you!! Do you feel like the PNCB practice exams helped in your preparation? Or the exam edge practice exams?

Thank you! The exam edge were more for the ANCC peds exam. Its says that on the website but i didn't realize it until after i bought the 5 exam pack.

I think the PNCB practice questions were helpful. They were harder than the actual exam. And there were a few questions that showed up on the actual exam.

Congratulations! Is the NAPNAP core review book similar to the NAPNAP online course? What about in terms of questions? I think Im going to buy the PNCB's practice questions. Oh oh and what are these practice exams from exam edge you speak of? Oh gosh, I'm freaking out a little right now since I take the ANCC test in a little over 2 weeks from now. I finished going through NAPNAP's online course and going over the ANCC review book. I have the orange book as well. I know you didnt take the ANCC, but thank you for your post and responses! asdfjk; should i get Barkley too. arghakdsjf;aj

Hey JoJoba

I think u should get the exam edge questions since it's geared toward the ANCC peds exam. I don't remember the website. Just google exam edge pediatric np exam and it should pop up .

I only used the core review question book not the study guide that goes with it. And some of the same questions were on the online review.

Good luck.

I sent u a pm jojoba

Hey Jojoba,

Did you pass?!? I am about to take the ANCC exam soon and wondering if I should buy the exam edge questions? Thank you!

I failed my PNCB exam but only used Berkeley review. I found it to be very difficult but maybe I need more resources. Did anyone buy the mosby review? What was most helpful? I guessed on many questions as some of what was asked wasn't even in Berkeley review. Very sad but hoping I can get a second chance at this! Ty

Napnap has a manual to study from not an online review

hey anyway i can talk to you regarding the PNCB exam? I failed twice and really need advice.
