Painted dark pic for me...

I am interested in entering a local RN program this fall. I was advised in October to go ahead and take the teas 4 b/c the college that I am applying to was upgrading the test in January. I took Teas 4 in December. I did pretty good on it. I also took two classes to bring up my gpa to a 3.0. I will also mention I have a BSEd. And I completed AnaI and AnaII and Micro with A's and one B five years ago. I am also a CNA at the hospital.

Well, in April I decided to take another jab at the Teas...this time TEAS 5. I needed to make above the national mean. I made THE national mean. Grrrrr. My advisor told me that they will NOT grandfather December's Teas 4 (the one I did great on) test in. That they will only consider this last Teas 5 exam. The catch!? You can only take the TEAS twice in 5 years. She said it is unlikely I will get into the program. If it had been my previous test 4 I stood more of a chance. I am so heartbroken because I have jumped through hoops to get here. But nothing I have under my belt matters. Everything is being weighed on this standardized test that has nothing to do with Nursing. She started spouting off my other options...like LPN. Which I don't mind. I called a local LPN program a tech school and she said I am overqualified for the program!!! I need to go the RN route. I am so disappointed :(

Wow you are overqualified for an LPN program? Ok that sounds ridiculous. Try to find other schools in your area or maybe even out of state. Good luck. I hope you find a school you can get into.

How are you overqualified for the LPN program? Are you sure she wasn't just suggesting that you are qualified and should go straight for the RN? I've never heard of a program not accepting someone for being overqualified.

The requirements vary with each school so see if you would be allowed to take the TEAS V again at another school. My school only allows you to take the TEAS V twice, but I've heard of other schools that have more than 2 tries. Some schools do the HESI or some other test so try those schools as well. Also see if other schools in your area are still doing the TEAS 4. Not sure if its an option for you, but you could also try applying to schools outside of your area that do the

TEAS 4.
