For anyone who might be on the fence about enrolling in the Excelsior College nursing program, just a reminder that the packaged payment program is being discontinued on October 2. That's tomorrow! $1560 for getting it done (except the CPNE) in under one year is a good deal.

Caliotter, are you still an EC student? What's up with you these days? I thought you were waiting on a CPNE date and were close to your enrollment expiring.
Hey Lunah
I'm logging off after this because my puter just started to act up. Can you get in touch with Joe and find out if it is the site or is it my puter? When I click on a tab or a thread it basically takes me to the one above it or below or some other place. Really messed up. Wanted to read your previous post and couldn't get to the Distance Forum or to the thread itself, it went to the LPN Student forum. Anyway, I got an extension from EC for one year and am waiting on the CPNE. I figure I have time for two tries before my year extension is up. So I'm plowing on through (not much enthusiasm but gonna finish one way or the other!) Thanks for asking.

Never mind about my question for Joe. It isn't the site. I figured out that I had somehow clicked on that little hand that is next to the house up in the status bar and it was causing the problem. I've never known what that little hand is for. Do you know? Now I'm really curious. It says Panning hand. What in the world does that mean? Uhhhhh It's three fifteen in the morning here.
I'm not sure -- I use Firefox for my browser, and I don't see a little hand icon. At least you figured it out! :)
Good luck on your CPNE! That is so awesome that EC granted you an extension.
Yeah. I went to a workshop and one of my classmates had got an extension just because she was never aware of the 7 year limit! I wasn't going to try to do anything about it. But after listening to her story, I gave them a letter with my situation (which was valid), and they gave me the extension, I think, about ten days later. Just like that. The other lady said something like they aren't so likely to give a second extension so this is it for me!

hi, what does this mean in terms of costs i one enrolls after Oct 2?
You will pay full price. No discount for completing in one year or less. The website, http://www.excelsior.edu, has info regarding the cost of the program and the availability of financial aid. Good luck with the program.

hi, what does this mean in terms of costs i one enrolls after oct 2?
you will pay the "standard fee". you can check the price at excelsior.edu site. the package option was geared for students who think will finish in less than one year especially those people who has most of the pre-requisites.
i am in the package option, so i paid $1560 for one year that includes all the nursing exams, practice exams, fcca, and graduation fee. if i don't finish in less than 1 year, i would pay another $1440 for the second year (don't plan on paying this because i will finish in less than a year ). i also have to pay extra for the cpne and 2 pre-requisites (lifespan and development & info literature).
here's what i know about the standard option:
enrollment fee = $895 (first year)
year 2 annual fee = $440
graduation fee = $495
eight nursing exams = $240 per exam; the 2nd exam may be waived for lpns
eight nursing practice exams = $65 per exam (highly recommended)
fcca = $375
cpne = $1950
well, check the ec website to get all the info.
good luck!
