Mar 5, 20242 yr Applied for the PMHNP program at pace for 2024. Has anyone heard back from any of the NP programs? Still waiting on my decision. And if anyone is already attending can you share your experience? Do you like it so far?

Lots of programs are restricted for NY and don't accept NY applicants for some reason (I almost applied to Simmons, Regis, and Frontier which got great reviews online but they don't allow NY applicants). So besides this I'll probably wait to reapply to Pace, Hunter, and Stonybrook for next year? I inquired at St. John Fisher unfortunately they only have the online format for the full MSN program versus the post master's (hybrid) which I applied at PACE university.. Sad, only limited option for NYS residents. I did inquire at Wilke's University in PA but declined me being a NYS resident......
Jun 5, 20242 yr Hey everyone! I applied to their PMHNP DNP program for the fall of 2024 and got in! My program is 4 years because I'm completing the DNP in the first two years then the PMHNP the second two years. Anyone else in the same boat? I got my acceptance about a month an a half ago or more.
Jun 27, 20241 yr I already have moved on with this. I just cannot understand why we have to study within NYS if you are a NYS resident. Binghamton University already moved to DNP by next year. I do not have any idea as of now where to apply or maybe just move to a different state I guess.

Did they specifically tell you that you can't be accepted because of your residence or because you only have a NY RN license? A few schools I spoke to told me that as long as I can do clinicals out of ny (meaning be able to travel and get either a multi state license) would be fine. Good luck

Good luck Hi Chaim12, I hope you can help me if you know any out of state NP schools that accepts NYS residents? I inquired at Wilkes University and they do not. I live in NYS but I do have a PA RN license. Thank you in advance.

Yale has an online program that also takes nys students however you will need to do your clinicals either in CT, NJ, or PA. There are other schools I will try to recall which ones and let you know. University of Rochester also has a pmhnp program.
Jul 11, 20241 yr I have emailed Simmons and Frontier and unfortunately it seems like it's bc NY state's board of nursing has certain requirements that makes many programs ineligible and that's why they don't accept NY residents. I've even asked if I could take classes with them and just do clinicals in NJ but they told me no. I ended up getting into St. John Fisher and they have been upfront with me that they will help place clinicals and have a network preceptors in multiple cities. I live in NY now but may move to Chicago to be closer to family and they said they will help place my clinicals no problem (but you have to check bc they can't for some states).

I inquired at St. John Fisher the problem is that their post-masters is face to face.
