I applied to the Accelerated program at Pace. I took my MAT's in the beginning of Oct and 2 days after they received my scores, they notified me by email regarding acceptance!! I'm so excited! Have you heard yet? I've been dying to talk to someone about the program!
Hello Bluemonday CONGRATS . I have also been accepted to the program. I submitted my MAT scores on October the 22nd, and found out exactly 1 week later, the 29th. You can click on my name. It will take you to my profile. E-mail me so that we can speak in greater detail. I look forward to speaking with you.
CONGRATS to you too!!
I'm new on here and still don't quite know how to use it, I clicked on your profile, but did not see your email... am i missing something???
Did they send you notification by email also? I was in shock and read it over 15 times...asking everyone if I was accepted. I think I was in denial...haha.
Anyway, is my email posted??? maybe you can email me? I feel so silly.:trout:
LOL. Yes they did e-mail me. Don't feel silly. I will try e-mailing you. :)
Check your e-mail. I just sent it.

Congratulations to you both (snelly808 and Bluemonday). I am going to apply to Pace Uni for the fall 2009 semester but it would be helpful if you can tell me your statistics i.e what is your gpa like and how did you do on the MAT. Do you think it is easier to take the MAT? Please your information will be helpful.
Hi,
Here are my grades:
1st Bachelor's Degree GPA: 3.2 (not that great)
AP I: A
AP II: A
Micro: B+
Chem, Psych: in progress
Stats: C+
MAT score: 409 (a bit less than average, according to the MAT website)
Also, I have no hospital experience, so if you don't either, don't be discouraged, just write an outstanding essay (proofread) and get your resume professionally edited. If this is your top school, do everything you can to spruce up your application, I definitely think that's what gave me an "edge" because my grades aren't that spectacular. They request 2-3 recommendations, I sent 3. Not sure what was the deciding factor in my acceptance, but whatever I did, it worked!
I decided not to take the GRE's because I believe it is similar to the SAT's but much harder, or so I heard. That frightens me since I did terrible on my SAT's and I cannot stand studying for Math just to take this exam. So anyway, not to say the MAT's are any easier, it is definitely NOT easy, but I can tell you that I guessed on tons of questions and managed to get above 400, which was my goal. I borrowed 2 MAT study guides from my library and did 10 practice exams and studied some of the material for about 3-4 weeks, however, I did not study Vocab because I knew it would take a lifetime to learn them. Turns out, my actual MAT had absolutely nothing that I studied for, it had mostly Vocab people don't use on a daily basis. Can't guarantee this will happen to you, but it definitely happened to me!! I had to just run with it, and I thought I totally bombed it.
Anyway, taking the MAT or GRE is entirely what you think you are better at. Take GRE if you are good in Math and English. Take MAT's if you are better at Humanities.
Either way, they are both really hard and requires lots of study time!!
If you have any other questions, feel free to ask.
Good luck!

Hello I just finished up my last semester and will be receiving my bachelors in a month or so. My overall GPA will be about 2.9 I have yet to take the GRE or MAT I have taken Chem A-, Stats C, my major was psych and my major gpa is above 3.4. My school did not offer any anatomy or micro so I still have not taken those. any advice or opinions on my chances of even trying to apply.... I also have no experience in nursing but am really passionate about helping people... your help is appreciated
I am in the same boat as you are right now. I attended Pace info seesion and spoke to the advisors there but it seems like they are not giving too much infomation. They told me to apply but make sure I bust the GRE or MAT exam. Currently have:
My GPA isn't high either cuz I have overall of 2.9 and prereqs of 3.7. So I have to bust the GRE to even be considered.
AP 1: A-
AP 2: A-
Chem org 1: A-
Eng 1 & 2: c+
Stats: B+
Psych: A
Micro: Spring 09
Organic chem 2: Spring 09
I suggest you work towards getting a high score on the GRE or MAT (depending on which one you pick) because they mentioned that they want a minimum of 1000 on the GRE but they have applicants with higher GRE scores so they want people to score somewhere around 1200 and up. So technically if you have a GPA less then 3.0, you will need to score above 1000 considering you have other applicants you are competing with. I'd also say you should retake classes you did bad in to help boost your GPA. Sofar from what I was told, they are not looking at your major GPA rather they are looking at your overall and prereqs. I hope this helps and will update you if I find out more info.
